                            GRAMMAR.

Las mismas reglas expuesta en la lección 39 para la expresión de las formas interrogativas y negativas del presente de indicativo de los verbos ingleses se aplica al pretérito o pasado de los mismos, pero con substitución del auxiliar DO, usado en el presente, por la palabra DID, la cual permanece invariable en todas las personas, tanto del singular como del plural.

             FORMA INTERROGATIVA.

Did I…?, did you…?,  did he….?,  did she…?,

did we….?,   did you…?,  did they…?.

Reemplazando los puntos con la voz PLACE, por ejemplo, del verbo TO PLACE, colocar, diremos:

Did I Place?.                      ¿Colocaba, coloqué yo?.

Did you place?.                ¿Colocaba, colocó usted?.

Did he place?.                  ¿Colocaba, colocó él?.

Did she place?.                ¿Colocaba, colocó ella?.

Did we place?.                 ¿Colocábamos, colocamos nosotros/-tras?.

Did you place?.           ¿Colocaban, colocaron ustedes?

Did they place?.        ¿Colocaban, colocaron ellos/ellas?

               FORMA NEGATIVA.

I did no…, you did not…, he did not…, she did not…,

we did not…, you did not…., they did not…

 Con la substitución de los puntos por la palabra GUESS, adivinar, resultara:

I did not guess.                Yo no adivinaba, no adiviné.

You did not guess.          Ud. no adivinaba, no adivinó.

He did not guess.            Etc.

She did not guess.

We did not guess.

You did not guess.

They did not guess.        Etc, etc.
