CONOZCA ESPAÑA (MADRID)

Madrid es la capital de España y de la Comunidad de Madrid, comunidad autónoma uniprovincial. También conocida como la Villa y Corte, es la ciudad más grande y poblada del país, alcanzando oficialmente y según el padrón de habitantes a 1 de enero de 2010 los 3.273.049 habitantes en su municipio, y la corrección a final de año del ayuntamiento, cifra oficiosa hasta ser aprobada en el congreso a finales de ese año es de 3.284.110, mientras que la cifra de población incluida su área metropolitana asciende a 6.043.031 habitantes según AUDES, siendo por ello la tercera ciudad más poblada de la Unión Europea —por detrás de Berlín y Londres— y la tercera área metropolitana, por detrás de las de París y Londres.

Madrid is the capital and largest city of Spain. The population of the city is roughly 3.3 million and the entire population of the Madrid metropolitan area is calculated to be 6.271 million. It is the third largest city in the European Union, after London and Berlin, and its metropolitan area is the third largest in the European Union after London and Paris. The city spans a total of 604.3 km2 (233.3 sq mi).

マドリード（Madrid）は、スペインの首都。スペインの行政の中心地（首都）であり、イベリア半島の経済の中心地の1つである。また、マドリード州の州都でもあり、マドリード県（マドリード州の唯一の県）の県都でもある。

人口は約325万人。2010年の近郊を含む都市圏人口は539万人であり、世界第53位、EUでは第4位である。欧州の首都の中では最も標高が高い。

スペイン中央部のメセタ地帯のマンサナーレス川沿いに広がる。近郊にはモストレス、アルカラ・デ・エナーレス、ヘタフェなどの都市があり、マドリード首都圏を形成している。

2010年、アメリカの外交専門誌フォーリンポリシーにより、マドリードは第17位の世界都市に選ばれている。欧州ではロンドン、パリ、ブリュッセル、ベルリンに次ぐ第5位である。
