Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, es una ciudad y municipio canario situado al noreste de la isla de Gran Canaria, de la que es capital, ostenta también la capitalidad de la provincia de Las Palmas y comparte la capitalidad de la Comunidad Autónoma de Canarias con Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
La ciudad fue fundada en 1478, siendo considerada capital de facto del archipiélago canario hasta el siglo XVII.

Las Palmas is the largest city of the European Union outside Europe. It is located in the northeast part of the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, about 150 kilometers (~93 miles) off the northwestern coast of Africa[5] within the Atlantic Ocean.
